LOCATION & LEISURE

Broad Leys is only a short taxi drive from many high quality local restaurants and Lakeland pubs.

The pretty town of Bowness is located about two miles along the road and here you can access the lake steamers. These run the length of the lake stopping off at Ambleside at the north end of the lake and Lakeside found at the south end. Kendal is only a 20 minute drive away and Coniston, the spiritual home of record breaking on water, is about half an hour away.  You are also only an hour from some of the most famous and challenging Lakeland fell walks.

Just a five minute drive away from Broad Leys is Blackwell, another superb example of Arts and Crafts architecture by H Baillie Scott. The house has been beautifully restored and is open to the public.

For those who wish to enjoy the beauty of the scenery on foot there are many walks in the surrounding area to suit every level. The immediate area also offers numerous mountain biking and cycle routes.

Places to visit of special interest within driving distance include Wordsworth’s homes at Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount, Beatrix Potter's Hill Top Farm and the beautiful gardens of Levens Hall and Holker Hall. Wray Castle & Sizergh Castle are also worth a visit.

Details of places to visit and local attractions are available at Broad Leys. Other attractions found locally include;

Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway - Catch a steam train and experience the Victorian style of travel.

Aquarium of the Lakes - A journey of discovery from the mountains to the sea for both adults and children alike. It is located at Lakeside and can be accessed either by the steam railway or along the lake on one of the beautiful steamers as well as by road. Ideal for a rainy day's entertainment.
